The Synergistic Production Effect of Water and Nitrogen on Winter Wheat in Southern Xinjiang

Water and nitrogen management are crucial for food security and the efficient use of water and fertilizer, especially in arid regions. Three irrigation levels, namely, 80% crop water requirement (ETC) (W1), 100% ETC (W2), and 120% ETC (W3), and three nitrogen application levels, namely, 0 kg/ha (N1), 207 kg/ha (N2), and 276 kg/ha (N3), were used as the experimental treatments, and a control group, denoted as CK, was created. The results show that the maximum height achieved was 82.16 cm under W3N3. There was a single-peak variation trend throughout the growth stages of SPAD. It peaked at 58.44 under W3N3 and then at 27.9 under W2N2. The net photosynthetic and transpiration rates displayed bimodal peaks and the phenomenon of a “photosynthetic midday depression”. And the prominent peaks in leaf water use efficiency occurred at 14:00 and 18:00, alongside noteworthy enhancements observed under the W3 treatment. Water and nitrogen and their interactions significantly affected the dry matter (DM) of winter wheat, with the spike accounting for the highest percentage. The W2N2 treatment demonstrated superior effectiveness in enhancing winter wheat water use efficiency, offering the potential to decrease irrigation requirements by 20% and nitrogen application by 25%. Moreover, the maximum PFPN attained under W2N2 reached 60.13, representing a noteworthy 35.25% increase compared to the control group (CK), but the HI of the W2N2 treatment only reached 0.56. The highest HI was achieved with W3N2 (0.73), and the nitrogen application of 207 kg/ha was more conducive to obtaining a higher HI. The highest yield was achieved under W3N3 (13.599 t/ha), followed by W2N2 (12.447 t/ha), and the spike proportion exceeded 60% with W2N2, and its production cost and economic benefit ratio of under 0.31 were superior to those for other treatments. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the maximum yield reached 12.944 t/ha with an irrigation amount of 3420.1 m3/ha and a nitrogen application of 251.92 kg/ha. Overall, our study suggests using an optimal water–nitrogen combination, specifically an irrigation level of 2829 m3/ha and a nitrogen application rate of 207 kg/ha, leading to increased winter wheat yields and economic benefits. These research results provide a pragmatic technique for improving winter wheat production in southern Xinjiang. Full article

Background: Frailty has been proven to be associated with mortality after orthotopic heart transplantation (OHT). The aim of our study was to determine the impact of frailty on mortality in the current era using pretransplant mechanical cardiac support (MCS). Methods: We retrospectively calculated the frailty scores of 471 patients undergoing OHT in a single institution between January 2012 and August 2022. The outcome was all-cause mortality. Results: The median survival time was 1987 days (IQR: 1487 days) for all patients. In total, 266 (56.5%) patients were categorized as nonfrail, 179 (38.0%) as prefrail, and 26 (5.5%) as frail. The survival rates were 0.73, 0.54, and 0.28 for nonfrail, prefrail, and frail patients, respectively. The frailty score was associated with mortality [HR: 1.34 (95% CI: 1.22–1.47, p < 0.001)]. Among the components of the frailty score, age above 50 years, creatinine ≥ 3.0 mg/dL or prior dialysis, and hospitalization before OHT were independently associated with mortality. Continuous-flow left ventricular assist devices (CF-LVAD) were associated with an increased risk for all-cause mortality [AHR: 1.80 (95% CI: 1.01–3.24, p = 0.047)]. Conclusions: The components of the frailty score were not equally associated with mortality. Frailty and pretransplant MCS should be included in the risk estimation. Full article

A new technique of additive prototyping filament volumetric nanostructuring based on the high-speed mechanical mixing of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) copolymer granules and single-walled carbon nanotube (CNT) powder (without prior dispersion in solvents) is considered. The morphological spectra of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images of nanostructured filament slice surfaces were obtained and characterized with the original mathematical simulation. The relations of structural changes in the “ingredient-matrix” polymer system with dielectric and mechanical properties of the ABS-based filaments were established. The supplementation of 1.5 mass.% of CNT powder to the ABS filament composition leads to the tensile strength increasing from 36 ± 2 to 42 ± 2 MPa. It is shown that the greater the average biharmonic amplitude and the morphological spectrum localization radius of the slice surfaces’ SEM images, the lower the electrical resistance of the corresponding nanostructured filaments. The possibility of carbon nanotube-modified filament functional layers forming using the extrusion additive prototyping technique (FFF) on the surface of plasma-chemically modified PET substrates (for the creation of load cell elements) is experimentally demonstrated. Precise targeting has become the main direction of anti-cancer drug development. Trophoblast cell surface antigen 2 (Trop-2) is highly expressed in different solid tumors but rarely in normal tissues, rendering it an attractive target. Trop-2-targeted antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) have displayed promising efficacy in treating diverse solid tumors, especially breast cancer and urothelial carcinoma. However, their clinical application is still limited by insufficient efficacy, excessive toxicity, and the lack of biological markers related to effectiveness. This review summarizes the clinical trials and combination therapy strategies for Trop-2-targeted ADCs, discusses the current challenges, and provides new insights for future advancements. We analyzed gender pay gap in academia using detailed performance data of all faculty members at the Beedie School of Business, Simon Fraser University, during 2012–2022. Although we initially observed a small average pay gap in favor of male academics, we found that female academics received higher remuneration compared to their male counterparts, once we controlled for research and teaching productivity, prior education and work experience, ethnicity, and various academic appointments. Our results provide an insight into possible sources of gender bias and highlight the need to control for teaching and research performance when investigating gender pay gaps. Full article

Regulation of RORα Stability through PRMT5-Dependent Symmetric Dimethylation

Retinoic acid receptor-related orphan receptor alpha (RORα), a candidate tumor suppressor, is prevalently downregulated or lost in malignant breast cancer cells. However, the mechanisms of how RORα expression is regulated in breast epithelial cells remain incompletely understood. Protein arginine N-methyltransferase 5 (PRMT5), a type II methyltransferase catalyzing the symmetric methylation of the amino acid arginine in target proteins, was reported to regulate protein stability. To study whether and how PRMT5 regulates RORα, we examined the direct interaction between RORα and PRMT5 by immunoprecipitation and GST pull-down assays. The results showed that PRMT5 directly bound to RORα, and PRMT5 mainly symmetrically dimethylated the DNA-binding domain (DBD) but not the ligand-binding domain (LBD) of RORα. To investigate whether RORα protein stability is regulated by PRMT5, we transfected HEK293FT cells with RORα and PRMT5-expressing or PRMT5-silencing (shPRMT5) vectors and then examined RORα protein stability by a cycloheximide chase assay. The results showed that PRMT5 increased RORα protein stability, while silencing PRMT5 accelerated RORα protein degradation. In PRMT5-silenced mammary epithelial cells, RORα protein expression was decreased, accompanied by an enhanced epithelial–mesenchymal transition morphology and cell invasion and migration abilities. In PRMT5-overexpressed mammary epithelial cells, RORα protein was accumulated, and cell invasion was suppressed. These findings revealed a novel mechanism by which PRMT5 regulates RORα protein stability. Full article

Background/Objectives: Many studies have addressed the sex differences in patients with psoriatic arthritis, although these are aimed more at describing the phenotype than at investigating the causes underlying these differences. The aims of our study were to assess the presence of clinical features in relation to sex, and to measure the effect on disease activity of different comorbidities in each sex. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study in which the following factors were measured: the clinical features of the disease, disease activity, the physical function and the disease impact. We measured serum leptin levels, to eliminate the effect of obesity on leptin levels, and a leptin/BMI ratio was calculated. The comorbid conditions evaluated included anxiety and depression, and sleep quality. Results: A total of 203 patients participated in this study. The mean age was 54.6 ± 11.3, and 46.8% of the patients were women. Women less frequently presented axial involvement (8% vs. 28%; p < 0.001) and more commonly had enthesitis (2 vs. 0.3; p < 0.001). They also had higher DAPSA (16.4 vs. 13.4; p < 0.001) and PsAID12 scores (4.1 vs. 2.9; p < 0.001), worse HAQ results (0.8 vs. 0.5; p < 0.001), and greater FACIT-F scores (32.7 vs. 38.1; p < 0.001). As for the comorbid conditions, women presented a higher leptin/BMI ratio (0.8 vs. 0.2; p < 0.001), higher levels of HADS-A (6.9 vs. 4.7; p < 0.001) and HADS-D (4.9 vs. 3.4; p < 0.001), and poorer ISI (9.3 vs. 7.0; p < 0.001). By sex, pain affecting women was associated with the leptin/BMI ratio (β: 0.29; p < 0.004; 95%CI: 0.3–1.6) and sleep quality (β: 0.31; p < 0.004; 95%CI: 0.04–0.25; R2: 0.26). The leptin/BMI ratio was not associated with pain in men (p = 0.46). Conclusions: Sex was associated with several clinical manifestations. Leptin/BMI ratio levels were associated with pain in women, but not in men. Full article

In this paper, we study the gravitational waves of holographic QCD phase transition with hyperscaling violation. We consider an Einstein–Maxwell Dilaton background and discuss the confinement–deconfinement phase transition between thermally charged AdS and AdS black holes. We find that hyperscaling violation reduces the phase transition temperature. In a further study, we discuss the effect of hyperscaling violation on the GW spectrum. We found that the hyperscaling violation exponent suppresses the peak frequency of the total GW spectrum. Moreover, the results of the GW spectrum may be detected by IPTA, SKA, BBO, and NANOGrav. We also find that the hyperscaling violation exponent suppresses the peak frequency of the bubble-collision spectrum h2Ωenv. Hyperscaling violation enhances the energy densities of the sound wave spectrum h2Ωsw and the MHD turbulence spectrum h2Ωturb. The total GW spectrum is dominated by the contribution of the bubble collision in runaway bubbles case. Full article

Background: In clinical practice, the implementation of tailored treatment is crucial for assessing the patient’s emotional processing profile. Here, we investigate all three levels of analysis characterizing emotion processing, i.e., recognition, representation, and regulation, in patients with peripheral neuropathic pain (PNP). Methods: Sixty-two patients and forty-eight healthy controls underwent quantitative sensory testing, i.e., psychophysical tests to assess somatosensory functions such as perception of cold (CDT), heat-induced pain (HPT), and vibration (VDT), as well as three standardized tasks to assess emotional processing: (1) the Ekman 60-Faces Test (EK-60F) to assess recognition of basic facial emotions, (2) the Reading the Mind in the Eyes Test (RME) to assess the ability to represent the feelings of another person by observing their eyes, and (3) the 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20) to assess emotional dysregulation, i.e., alexithymia. Results: General Linear Model analysis revealed a significant relationship between left index finger VDT z-scores in PNP patients with alexithymia. The RME correlated with VDT z-scores of the left little finger and overall score for the EK-60F. Conclusions: In patients with PNP, emotion processing is impaired, which emphasizes the importance of assessing these abilities appropriately in these patients. In this way, clinicians can tailor treatment to the needs of individual patients. Full article

The present study aimed to evaluate the influence of the autonomic nervous system on cardiovascular function during the first 35 days of life in different types of delivery, using heart rate variability (HRV) indices. Thirty newborns were equally divided into two groups based on delivery type: eutocic delivery (EG) and emergency cesarean section (CG). Electrocardiographic evaluation was performed at birth (T0), 24 h postpartum (T1), and at 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35 days of life (T2 to T6). Physical parameters, neonatal reflexes, and Apgar scores were recorded. Over 35 days, the values of the time domain indices were higher in the GE group and increased with age. In the frequency domain, the low frequency (LF) index was higher in the CG, and the opposite occurred for the high frequency (HF) index. Since the CG presented lower HRV than the EG, it was shown that the type of delivery should be considered for the assessment of autonomic nervous system activity in neonates. Thus, as predictive factors of vitality, HRV and Apgar scores can help in the face of neonatal depression, demonstrating that delivery by emergency cesarean section can predispose newborns to delays in the autonomic influence on the heart. For well-known orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), the cyclic prefix (CP) is essential for coping with multipath channels. Nevertheless, CP is a pure redundant signal, which wastes valuable time–frequency resources. We propose a novel waveform based on symbol repetition, which is presented to cut down the CP overhead in OFDM. In the presented OFDM with symbol repetition (SR-OFDM), one CP is inserted in the front of several transmitted symbols, instead of only one symbol, as in the conventional way. As a result, it can save the overhead created by CP. Furthermore, due to the existence of the remaining CP, the multipath channel can still be converted into the frequency domain, and single-tap equalization can still be used to equalize information free from interference. In addition, we also extend the proposed SR-OFDM into multiple input–multiple output (MIMO) systems. Finally, the proposed schemes are validated by computer simulations under the various channels. Heart Transplantation following Fontan Failure: Long-Term Survival Analysis

Objectives: Fontan circulation presents significant challenges for patients with congenital heart disease, often necessitating heart transplantation (HTX) due to deteriorating functionality across multiple organ systems. However, the impact of prior Fontan palliation on HTX outcomes remains poorly understood, with early mortality rates suggesting a heightened risk. The aim of our study is to evaluate the long-term results after heart transplantation in patients with univentricular congenital heart disease previously palliated with Fontan circulation. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients who underwent HTX for congenital heart disease. Patients were categorized into two groups based on the pre-HTX circulation pathway: the Failing Fontan Group (FFG) and the Biventricular Congenital Group (BCG). Data were collected from patients between 1987 and 2018. Early and late outcomes, including survival rates, were assessed and critically analyzed. Results: Of the 66 patients, 29 (43%) had a failing Fontan palliation (FFG), and 37 had biventricular congenital diseases (BCG) before heart transplantation. Early mortality (30-day) was not statistically different between the two group. The overall survival rate was 82.6 ± 13.9% at 1 year, 79.0 ± 14.9% at 5 years, 67.2 ± 17.6% at 10 years and 63.2 ± 18.2 ± at 15 years for the FFG, and 86.1 ±11.4% at 1 year, 79.5 ± 13.7% at 5 years, 75.7 ± 14.9% at 10 years, 75.7 ± 14.9% at 15 years for the BCG, with no statistically significant difference (Mantel Cox p value: 0.69, 0.89, 0.52 and 0.39, respectively). Regarding Cox-regression analysis, the long-term survival rate was not affected either by previous Fontan surgery or by the era of heart transplantation (before vs. after the year 2000). Conclusions: Although heart transplantation after Fontan palliation showed a higher risk in the early post-operative period, the medium- and long-term survival rates are comparable with biventricular circulation patients. Despite the failing Fontan patients being a challenging set of candidates for transplantation, it is a reasonable option in their treatment. Full article

Small-scale cultivation of irrigated fodder is emerging as a vital production system in mixed farming communities. Efficient water management plays a key role in enhancing forage production, especially in the face of changing climate. A field-scale experimental study was conducted in Robit Bata kebele, Ethiopia, with the following objectives: (1) to examine the effects of conventional farmers’ irrigation scheduling versus climate-based irrigation scheduling; and (2) to assess the influence of water-lifting technologies (manual pulley and solar Majipump) on dry matter yield (DMY), water productivity (WP), irrigation labor productivity (ILP), and water productivity in terms of crude protein and metabolizable energy (WP.CP and WP.ME) of Napier grass. The experiment used 10 farmers’ plots each with a size of 100 m2. Half of the plots were treated using farmers’ scheduling while the other half were treated using climate-based irrigation scheduling. Monitoring of irrigation water use and crop yield took place over two irrigation seasons from November 2020 to June 2021. Results showed there was an interaction effect of irrigation management (p = 0.019) and water-lifting technologies (p = 0.016) with season on DMY. The highest DMY occurred in the first irrigation season with climate-based scheduling and solar Majipump use. The interaction effect of irrigation management and season affected WP (p = 0.047). Climate-based scheduling had a higher WP in the first season, while farmers’ scheduling had a higher WP during the second season. On average, the solar Majipump outperformed the pulley, achieving 5 kg m−3 WP compared to the pulley’s 4 kg m−3 (p = 0.018). Emphasizing the seasonal impact, it is recommended to promote full irrigation (climate-based) in the first season for maximum yield and WP. Conversely, in the second season, advocating only deficit irrigation is advised due to water scarcity and sustainability concerns. Statistical parity in DMY and lower WP with full irrigation in the second season supports this recommendation, addressing the challenge of optimizing water use in the context of a changing climate and ensuring sustainable smallholder agriculture practices. Therefore, implementing appropriate irrigation management alongside efficient water-lifting technologies holds the potential to enhance fodder productivity and bolster smallholder farmers’ livelihoods. Future research should explore the comparative benefits of irrigated fodder versus other crops and the overall advantages of investing in irrigated fodder over vegetables. Full article

Yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares) is a valuable pelagic migratory fish with potential for aquaculture. Despite this, there is limited understanding of the biological and physiological characteristics of this species, particularly regarding sex differences in growth performance. The liver, a crucial organ for digestion and metabolism, plays a significant role in regulating fish growth. This study aimed to compare liver enzyme activities and transcriptome profiles between female and male yellowfin tuna to uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying difference between the sexes. The results revealed that female yellowfin tuna exhibited higher amylase and lipid metabolism enzyme activities, while male yellowfin tuna showed higher glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and antioxidant enzyme activities. Additionally, through Illumina sequencing technology, the study generated 37.74 Gb of clean data and identified 36,482 unique genes (UniGenes) in the liver transcriptome. A total of 2542 differentially expressed genes were found, with enriched Gene Ontology terms and pathways related to metabolic processes, particularly lipid metabolism and transport. These findings suggest that female yellowfin tuna have superior digestive enzyme activities and lipid metabolism, while male yellowfin tuna excel in sugar metabolism, ATP production, and antioxidant defense. This study provides valuable insights into sex differences in yellowfin tuna and could aid in advancing full-cycle aquaculture practices for this species. Full article

This study aimed to analyze the influence of service quality, relationship marketing, perceived value, and satisfaction on intention to continue relationships in the business-to-business context of lubricant companies in Indonesia. We utilized the theoretical perspectives of the Social Exchange Theory and Expectation–Confirmation Theory. The research sample comprised 135 distributors of lubricant companies in Indonesia selected through saturated sampling. Data collection employed a survey method, and data were analyzed using PLS-SEM. The results indicate that service quality and relational marketing significantly affect perceived value while perceived value significantly influences satisfaction. However, the direct influence of perceived value on the intention to continue relationships was not significant. Conversely, satisfaction was found to have a significant positive influence on the intention to continue relationships. These findings underscore the importance of integrating sustainability principles into service quality, relationship marketing, and satisfaction strategies to foster long-term business relationships in the B2B context within the lubricant industry in Indonesia. Background/Objectives: Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS) is prevalent among physically active individuals, highlighting the need for innovative treatment strategies beyond conventional physiotherapy. This study investigates the effectiveness of integrating flossing band therapy with standard physiotherapy, anticipating improved outcomes in pain reduction, functional ability, and patient satisfaction. Methods: A double-blinded randomized controlled trial involved 50 PFPS-diagnosed participants. They were divided into two groups: Standard Physiotherapy Group (SPG) and Flossing Band and Physiotherapy Group (FBPG), each undergoing an 8-week intervention focusing on resistance training supplemented by respective therapies. Assessment metrics included pain (VAS), strength (Dynamometry), lower limb function (LEFS), and PFPS function (AKPS) measured before and after the intervention. Results: Significant enhancements in all outcome measures were noted for both groups, yet the FBPG exhibited notably superior improvements in pain, knee functionality, muscle strength, and lower extremity function. The FBPG demonstrated statistically significant greater efficacy in pain alleviation and strength enhancement. Conclusions: The addition of flossing band therapy to conventional physiotherapy presents a more effective treatment modality for PFPS, suggesting its potential to redefine therapeutic standards. Future studies should delve into the long-term impacts and mechanistic underpinnings of floss band therapy in PFPS management. Full article

Paeonia ostii is an important economic oil and medicinal crop. Its anthers are often used to make tea in China with beneficial effects on human health. However, the metabolite profiles, as well as potential biological activities of P. ostii anthers and the pollen within anthers have not been systematically analyzed, which hinders the improvement of P. ostii utilization. With comprehensive untargeted metabolomic analysis using UPLC-QTOF-MS, we identified a total of 105 metabolites in anthers and pollen, mainly including phenylpropanoids, polyketides, organic acids, benzenoids, lipids, and organic oxygen compounds. Multivariate statistical analysis revealed the metabolite differences between anthers and pollen, with higher carbohydrates and flavonoids content in pollen and higher phenolic content in anthers. Meanwhile, both anthers and pollen extracts exhibited antioxidant activity, antibacterial activity, α-glucosidase and α-amylase inhibitory activity. In general, the anther stage of S4 showed the highest biological activity among all samples. This study illuminated the metabolites and biological activities of anthers and pollen of P. ostii, which supports the further utilization of them. Full article

PCSK9 is implicated in familial hypercholesterolemia via targeting the cell surface PCSK9-LDLR complex toward lysosomal degradation. The M2 repeat in the PCSK9’s C-terminal domain is essential for its extracellular function, potentially through its interaction with an unidentified “protein X”. The M2 repeat was recently shown to bind an R-x-E motif in MHC-class-I proteins (implicated in the immune system), like HLA-C, and causing their lysosomal degradation. These findings suggested a new role of PCSK9 in the immune system and that HLA-like proteins could be “protein X” candidates. However, the participation of each member of the MHC-I protein family in this process and their regulation of PCSK9’s function have yet to be determined. Herein, we compared the implication of MHC-I-like proteins such as HFE (involved in iron homeostasis) and HLA-C on the extracellular function of PCSK9. Our data revealed that the M2 domain regulates the intracellular sorting of the PCSK9-LDLR complex to lysosomes, and that HFE is a new target of PCSK9 that inhibits its activity on the LDLR, whereas HLA-C enhances its function. This work suggests the potential modulation of PCSK9’s functions through interactions of HFE and HLA-C. Full article

The effects of sound stimulation as a sensorial environmental enrichment for captive animals have been studied. When appropriately implemented for farm animals, it can improve welfare, health, and productivity. Furthermore, there are indications that music can induce positive emotions in non-human animals, similar to humans. Emotion is a functional state of the organism involving both physiological processes, mediated by neuroendocrine regulation, and changes in behavior, affecting various aspects, including contextual perception and welfare. As there is very limited information on non-human animals, the objective of this review is to highlight what is known about these processes from human biological and comparative perspectives and stimulate future research on using music to improve animal welfare. The present study aimed to evaluate the in vitro antibacterial and antibiofilm activity of bacterial cellulose hydrogel produced by Zoogloea sp. (HYDROGEL) containing vancomycin (VAN) against bacterial strains that cause wound infections, such as multidrug-resistant (MDR) Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis. Initially, HYDROGEL was obtained from sugar cane molasses, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was performed to determine morphological characteristics. Then, VAN was incorporated into HYDROGEL (VAN-HYDROGEL). The antibacterial activity of VAN, HYDROGEL, and VAN-HYDROGEL was assessed using the broth microdilution method to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) against methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA) ATCC 25923, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) ATCC 33591, S. epidermidis INCQS 00016 (ATCC 12228), five clinical isolates of MRSA, and nine clinical isolates of methicillin-resistant S. epidermidis, following the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines. Additionally, the antibacterial activity of VAN, HYDROGEL, and VAN-HYDROGEL was studied using the time-kill assay. Subsequently, the antibiofilm activity of VAN, HYDROGEL, and VAN-HYDROGEL was evaluated using crystal violet and Congo red methods, as well as SEM analysis. VAN and VAN-HYDROGEL showed bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity against MRSA and methicillin-resistant S. epidermidis strains. HYDROGEL did not show any antibacterial activity. Analysis of the time-kill assay indicated that HYDROGEL maintained the antibacterial efficacy of VAN, highlighting its efficiency as a promising carrier. Regarding antibiofilm activity, VAN and HYDROGEL inhibited biofilm formation but did not demonstrate biofilm eradication activity against methicillin-resistant S. aureus and S. epidermidis strains. However, it was observed that the biofilm eradication potential of VAN was enhanced after incorporation into HYDROGEL, a result also proven through images obtained by SEM. From the methods carried out in this study, it was possible to observe that HYDROGEL preserved the antibacterial activity of vancomycin, aside from exhibiting antibiofilm activity and enhancing the antibiofilm effect of VAN. In conclusion, this study demonstrated the potential of HYDROGEL as a candidate and/or vehicle for antibiotics against MDR bacteria that cause wound infections. Full article

Reconstruction of Hourly FY-4A AGRI Land Surface Temperature under Cloud-Covered Conditions Using a Hybrid Method Combining Spatial and Temporal Information

Land Surface Temperature (LST) products obtained by thermal infrared (TIR) remote sensing contain considerable blank areas due to the frequent occurrence of cloud coverage. The studies on the all-time reconstruction of the cloud-covered LST of geostationary meteorological satellite LST products are relatively few. To accurately fill the blank area, a hybrid method for reconstructing hourly FY-4A AGRI LST under cloud-covered conditions was proposed using a random forest (RF) regression algorithm and Savitzky-Golay (S-G) filtering. The ERA5-Land surface cumulative net radiation flux (SNR) reanalysis data was first introduced to represent the change in surface energy arising from cloud coverage. The RF regression method was used to estimate the LST correlation model based on clear-sky LST and the corresponding predictor variables, including the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), the normalized difference water index (NDWI), surface elevation and slope. The fitted model was then applied to reconstruct the cloud-covered LST. The S–G filtering method was used to smooth the outliers of reconstructed LST in the temporal dimension. The accuracy evaluation was performed using the measured LST of the representative meteorological stations after scale correction. The coefficients of determination derived with the reference LST were all above 0.73 on the three examined days, with a bias of −1.13–0.39 K, mean absolute errors (MAE) of 1.46–2.4 K, and root mean square errors (RMSE) of 1.77–3.2 K. These results indicate that the proposed method has strong potential for accurately restoring the spatial and temporal continuity of LST and can provide a solution for the production and research of gap-free LST products with high temporal resolution. Bolt connection structure is a common form of connecting large and complex equipment. Its object contact surfaces under normal and tangential loads will appear in the form of slip and adhesion, which affects the service life of mechanical equipment. Bolted connection structures cause changes in stiffness and damping, which have great impacts on the dynamic characteristics. Experimental studies and numerical simulations have difficulty predicting the overall performance of bolts in a timely manner, hence cannot ensure the reliability and safety of complex equipment. In order to improve the overall performance of complex equipment, it is necessary to study the contact theory model of bolt connection structures. Based on the relationship between friction force and velocity in the classical friction model, the mathematical expressions of restoring force and tangential displacement in the kinetic theory model are deduced to predict the stiffness degradation of the bolted structure and to characterise the kinetic properties and laws of the bolted structure. From the perspective of theoretical calculation, it makes up for the situation in which it is difficult to measure the performance of bolts due to the existence of spanning scale and provides theoretical support for the reliability of connecting complex equipment. This paper summarises and analyses the contact theory model of bolt connection structures, ranging from macroscopic to microscopic; describes the static friction model, kinetic friction model, statistical summation contact model, fractal contact model; and analyses the influencing factors of the microscopic contact mechanism. The advantages and disadvantages of the kinetic theoretical models are described, the manifestation of friction and the relationship between tangential force–displacement are discussed, and the key research directions of the kinetic theoretical models of bolted structures in the future are elucidated.
