Congratulations to Bastien Latard on Receiving his Ph.D.

MDPI is proud and honored to announce that Bastien Latard has successfully completed and publicly defended his Ph.D. in Informatics from the University of Upper Alsace on 19th September 2019. During his doctoral studies, which were funded by MDPI, he developed an approach categorizing and predicting similarity among scientific articles by exclusively using semantics. Dr. Latard will now help to develop a new research and development department within MDPI, including efforts to mine and understand the scientific literature based on the Scilit (https://scilit.net) that he created in his Master’s work.

We offer our congratulations to Bastien for achieving this milestone. MDPI sincerely thanks the University of Upper Alsace, Prof. Dr. Michel Hassenforder, Prof. Dr. Germain Forestier and Dr. Jonathan Weber for providing support, guidance and supervision during the course of Dr Latard’s three years Ph.D. studies. MDPI also thanks the members of the Ph.D. committee: Prof. Dr. Frédérique Laforest, Dr. Mathieu Roche, and Prof. Dr. Julien Longhi for examining the Ph.D. thesis. We look forward for continuing and strengthening the collaborations developed within this project.
